Diamond Identification with Clarity Grading
Using microscopes, loupes and several gemological instruments learn how to separate diamonds from synthetic cubic zirconia, synthetic moissanite, zircon and various other diamond imitaters. Identifying inclusions and blemishes are also covered both as identifying characteristics and as clarity grade setting characteristics.

Using microscopes, loupes and several gemological instruments learn how to separate rubies from synthetic rubies, ruby imitators and treated rubies. Identifying inclusions are empasized as they allow you to identify rubies as well as their treatments.
The main emphasis in this workshop is identifying glass filling and synthetics.

Using microscopes, loupes and visual observation skills you will learn to identify various jewelry construction methods as well as how well they were built. Lab time along with photos and bench demonstrations allows a better understanding of how jewelry is created. A checklist of characteristics is developed to assist with indentifying construction methods.
